We always wanted a custom domain for our shortlinks in social networks and our applications. However, none of the available SaaS solutions looked good enough, so we ended up with Yourls' hosted URL shortener. It was more affordable but we still had to pay for a separate server, take care of its maintenance and monitor its uptime. At some point, the server crashed again and we decided to look for faster and less time-consuming Yourls alternatives. As it turned out, there were none. We realized that we couldn't be the only ones coping with this problem. That's how Yohn was born. We use it ourselves and like it so much that we decided to offer it to other people!
